.:Life in a Nutshell

On October 16 1948, a baby boy was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was named Michael.

Michael grew up in the suburbs of Detroit with his family - mother Margaret, father Edward, brothers Mark, Sam and Alan, and sisters Terri and Sarah. He was the oldest of the children.

During high school one of Michael's teachers, Father Schubert, introduced him to the theater. Ever since Michael has appeared in plays and early in his career he earned his living acting in regional theater. When attending college, Michael tried out several majors but eventually decided to go with acting. He earned his M.F.A. from Wayne State University in Detroit.

In college, Michael met his first wife, Deborah Eckols. The couple was married on April 15th 1978. Their happiness, however, didn't last and they divorced later in the 80s.

After appearing on Another World for a few weeks, Michael landed his role on Guiding Light in 1981. He played Quinton McCord Chamberlain, also known as Sean Ryan. His character was paired with Nola, and they created one of the most loved soap couples ever. Michael left Guiding Light in 1985, but returned for some time in the mid 90s.

Soon after leaving Guiding Light, Michael joined the cast of All My Children where he played Matt Connolly. Not only did he get to act with some very beautiful women, he later married one of them. Michael met his now former wife Hunter (still Deborah Morehart then) on the set of AMC and after some rather negative first impressions, they decided to give their relationship a chance. They got married on July 7th, 1987 forming a family of three (Hunter had a son, Christopher, born January 22 1981, from her previous marriage).

On April 24th 1988, Michael and Hunter had the joy of welcoming Michael Tylo Junior (nicknamed Mickey) to the family. Adding entries to his credits list, Michael appeared in General hospital and the highly acclaimed miniseries Lonesome Dove. 1990 marked the landing of the role of alcalde Luis Ramon in New World Zorro, which was shot in Spain and aired on Family Channel. After some guest appearances in various series, the doors to The Young And The Restless were opened and Michael was cast as Blade, the mysterious photographer who first appeared to have no last name. The storyline was later stirred up by Rick, Blade's evil twin.

In the 90s Michael and Hunter encountered some serious marital problems that almost lead to a divorce. Fortunately, with help from God above, they were able to overcome the problems and renrewed their wedding vows on New Year's Eve 1995.

Izabella Gabrielle, Michael and Hunter's third child, was born on November 12th in 1996. Stormy waters were ahead in 1997 when wife Hunter sued Spelling Entertainment due to being fired from Melrose Place because she got pregnant. Michael stood firmly by his wife's side during the court battle, and after she was awarded nearly 5 million dollars, together they founded the charity Hunter's Chosen Child.

Another crisis came along after the birth of Katya Ariel (January 15th 1998). Little Katya was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. The fight began. Fortunately, though losing her other eye, Katya was cured. Michael sits in the Development Committee of Retinoblastoma International, a foundation that aims for raising awareness of retinoblastoma and collecting funds for research.

In 00s, Michael has been cast in a couple of movies and he also made a guest appearance on The Bold And The Beautiful as Amber's lawyer Sherman Gale. Currently Michael is residing in Nevada and working as a full time professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, teaching classes in the film and theatre departments. He has also been regularly appearing on stage at the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, and most recently in Come Back, Little Sheba (Jan/2008), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Oct/2007) and Twelfth Night (Dec/2006). In addition to acting, Michael has also been directing productions.
